It’s National Cheeseburger Day!
Talk about a national holiday! September 18th is national cheeseburger day, and there is no better time to celebrate a national treasure!
I have chosen some of of my favorite burgers to share with you today – to honor those restaurants that have chosen to honor this terrific food!
Behold The French Fry Burger!
Forget Burger King! I shared this with everyone last year – something I began making late at night when working at Herfy’s in Seattle…it’s a burger topped with fries, then cheese and tartar sauce!
In other words, there are NO limits to what you can do to a burger – a fact I am about to prove to you!
And Elvis agrees!
So does Jimmy Page!
With this kind of musical muscle behind it, the cheeseburger is the food of the gods! Let’s start with some fun cheeseburger facts:
That’s right – there are NO limits to how tall you can stack a cheeseburger. There is only a limit to how much you can stuff into your mouth at one time!
Here are some more fun facts, courtesy of the great website “Foodimentary”:
The oldest fast food restaurant in the world is the White Castle franchise, which opened in 1921!
That’s right, we owe it ALL to White Castle!
Time To Celebrate White Castle!
That’s right! Growing up in Seattle, I never got to taste White Castle until I went to New Jersey for the first time! I fell in love with the mini-slider burgers from White Castle and have never looked back!
These little burgers are an inexpensive, tasty treat – and sometimes that’s all you need! Click on the link to see more of my love affair with White Castle, and I review New York’s terrific “Five Napkin Burger” as well!

More facts:
The people of America eat more burgers out at restaurants or on the go than they do at home.
The largest hamburger ever created was over 8,000 pounds and was cooked for a burger festival in Wisconsin.
Don’t believe me? Take a look!
The Origin Of The Hamburger!
The hamburger in its current form, with ground beef and a bun, is a decidedly American creation.
And That Means Dick’s!
Talk about all-american burgers! The GREAT Seattle burger stand known as Dick’s serves up a burger that is simple – and delicious!
Dick’s Drive-In is fast, friendly, and a great Seattle institution – so the next time you are in the Emerald City, this is the place for you!

Next fact: Hamburgers are made of beef, not ham, and there is much debate over whether they actually originated in Hamburg.
Well, if that’s the case, let’s see what Germany has to offer the burger lover!
The McD Germany!
Yep, McDonald’s will use the world’s taste buds to try out strange creations, like the “TeamBurger” above…or how about this: a pretzel bun burger!
Thanks to Wendy’s, the pretzel burger is a huge hit in the US now, but Germany tried it first…oh, and they also tried something called:
“The Lauginator!”

Badhappy’s Chick-Fil-E!

I recently called this one of the ten most unique sandwiches in the world, and it’s just one of the great burgers that Badhappy offers…read about all of them here!
